
Youth & Hiking Program
For-Teeners - Alpine Hiking Course for Teens
Spend the week learning what it takes to summit one of the giants of the Colorado Rockies- a 14,000-foot peak! We'll start our week in Golden, getting our hiking feet underneath us, where we'll not only physically prepare for our summit, but also gain essential skills for mountain safety.

- Age: For youth going into grades 8-12.
- Dates: August 4, 2025 (departs at 8am) - August 8, 2025 (returns by 4pm)
- Location: This is a week-long overnight camp. We will depart from our basecamp at Rooney Ranch Elementary. Transportation from basecamp to and from the trailheads will be provided. The group will camp at various designated front country campsites near the trailheads throughout the week.
- Cost: CMC Family Members - $1,150/week, Non-Members - $1,250/week. CMC Members with a Family Membership receive $100 off. Learn about all the benefits of becoming a CMC member.
- Please note, if you have an individual membership and wish to sign up your child, you will need to create a separate guest account with a different email. You can also choose to upgrade your individual membership to a family membership to be able to register your child on your account and receive the discount.
- Course fee includes instruction, shared group gear (tents), transportation from basecamp to/from the trailheads, meals, and backcountry permits.

- Refund/cancellation policy: After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. At least a week prior to your camp you will receive another email with more details and information about the camp. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
This program has no scheduled activities.
CMC Will Provide the Following:
- Camping Supplies (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, tarps)
- Cooking Supplies (stoves, fuel, coolers, dishes, utensils, etc.)
- Food (all meals and snacks)
- Medical/First Aid Kits
- Safety Equipment (GPS devices, etc.)
- Permits, maps, guidebooks
Participant Packing List:
If you are unable to bring any of the items below, please let us know 1 week prior to camp starting. CMC does have a few extra items that we are happy to loan out for the trip.
- Camping Supplies (you may bring the following items if you wish, however, CMC is also able to provide these items): tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad
- Clothes (comfortable clothing for climbing, hiking, and camping):
- Loose fitting pants or shorts
- Tshirts and a long sleeve shirt
- Closed-toe, sturdy hiking shoes
- Sandals – camp shoes (optional)
- Socks and underwear
- Sweater and/or warm layer
- Rain jacket
- Brimmed hat
- Sunglasses
- Warm hat and gloves (it can get cold at night)
- Bandana or buff
- Bathing Suit
- Toiletries- tooth brush, toothpaste, menstrual products, body wash/soap, shampoo,
conditioner (optional) - Mask (optional)
- Bug spray (must be labeled with name)
- Sunscreen and lip balm (must be labeled with name)
- Water bottle
- Backpack large enough to carry all personal essentials for a day hike/climb
- Personal medications (inhaler, EPI pen, etc.) – please have all containers and bottles
labeled and also listed on the medical forms - Headlamp
- Journal, pencil, pen, books (optional)
- Towel
- Camera (optional)
**Cell phones, gaming devices, tablets, and iPods are NOT allowed on this course
