This class will teach participants the skills needed to safely lead sport climbs on their own, including basic leading technique, setting up a top-rope anchor, cleaning the anchor and rapping or lowering down, advanced lead belaying, bailing off a route, climbing movement, and falling practice. It is taught over 2 full field days at a climbing crag.

- Basic climbing kit to include helmet, harness and climbing shoes
- Belay device- basic tube-style device, or other devices you would like to use, including assisted braking devices such as the Gri-Gri
- Personal tether such as a PAS or a 120 cm nylon sling
- 8-12 quickdraws
- 16-18 ft of 7mm nylon cord for a quad anchor rigging
- 4 locking carabiners for the quad anchor
- 1 locking carabiner for your belay device
- 1 locking carabiner for your tether/PAS
- 1 extra locking carabiner for lowering
- Rappel backup loop- Hollow Block or 3 ft of 6mm nylon cord to tie into a loop.
- 1 locking carabiner for your rappel back-up
