PPG BMS - Basic Ice Climbing Field Day – Lake City Ice Park

Students will learn and practice ice climbing techniques on an ice climbing wall. ***NOTE: THIS TRIP IS FOR STUDENTS/MEMBERS STAYING AT THE ACCOMMODATION RESERVED BY CHRIS KAPLAN.***

Ice climbing movements and proper climbing techniques for swinging ice tools and kicking in crampons will be demonstrated.  Students will practice techniques.  

***THIS TRIP SIGNUP IS FOR STUDENTS AND NON-STUDENT CMC MEMBERS ATTENDING THE LAKE CITY WEEKEND AND WHO ARE STAYING IN THE ACCOMMODATION MANAGED BY CHRIS KAPLAN.***

We will meet in Lake City. Instructor will send all confirmed attendees the address and details for the accommodation via email.

PLEASE CONSULT YOUR STUDENT HANDBOOK.

Required Equipment:  Eye protection, climbing helmet, harness, two locking carabiners (one must be a large HMS style), belay device, rappel back-up loop (10-14 inch tied loop of 5-6 mm nylon cord (made from a 4-ft. length of cord), or small Hollow-block loop), double length runner or PAS, winter alpine-style boots, steel alpine or ice crampons, and ice tools (the club has some crampons and ice tools, so check with instructor on availability).
