Field trip: Basic Ice Climbing

We will meet in Lake City. Instructor will send all confirmed attendees the address and details for the accommodation via email.
Ice climbing movements and proper climbing techniques for swinging ice tools and kicking in crampons will be demonstrated. Students will practice techniques.

Required Equipment
PLEASE CONSULT YOUR STUDENT HANDBOOK.
Required Equipment: Eye protection, climbing helmet, harness, two locking carabiners (one must be a large HMS style), belay device, rappel back-up loop (10-14 inch tied loop of 5-6 mm nylon cord (made from a 4-ft. length of cord), or small Hollow-block loop), double length runner or PAS, winter alpine-style boots, steel alpine or ice crampons, and ice tools (the club has some crampons and ice tools, so check with instructor on availability).
