PPG BMS - Basic/Intermediate Rock Climbing Field Day – Castlewood Canyon State Park

This session will be the second, in-person, activity for this course. This session will be outside and will address the topics/skills discussed during the classroom and Ground School sessions.

NOTE:  This session is weather dependent, but mandatory to complete to earn climbing badges -- it will still go if there is slight weather; but if weather is considered unsafe, this session will be scheduled at a later time/day.  Students must complete all evaluations before they are able to assigned the earned badges.

Location: Castlewood Canyon State Park – Go thru the West Entrance, and park at the second parking lot area (if you pass the bathrooms, you went too far), trailhead and picnic table where we mainly be meeting is right off the road on the right-hand side as you drive in, bigger parking lot will come up on the left.

Area: We plan to be stationed mainly at the “Neanderthal Wall;” with option of climbing at the “Grocery Store Wall” as a back-up.  Check out Mountainproject.com and handy to download the map and check it out…  Download Colorado -- You can search for the area: Castlewood Canyon SP, then scroll to find Neanderthal Wall.  If you would like, find the “download pictures for the area” and do that, this will give you access to this area’s pictures while you are there.
