Have you ever wondered what happens on the search and rescue side when there is a backcountry incident?  How do they know where to go?  What should they bring?  Is it always a mystery so they bring everything?  How do they take care of themselves, so we don’t start out with one injury and end up with more?  How dangerous is dangerous for them?  What is their level of commitment to your situation?  How do they determine the sense of urgency?  What can you do to make them more effective?  How can you better support SAR to ensure they are there when you need them?

Have you ever wondered what happens within the 911 team when they get a call from you?  How do they handle a garbled, incomplete, or dropped call?  How do they work with you to better understand your situation?  What is their process to engage SAR?  What is the intermediary role of the local county sheriff?

This event is intended for graduates of the Backcountry Incident Management Course as well as for Trip Leaders/Technical Trip Leaders.
