Wilderness First Responder Recertification

Review, practice, and stay on top of your skills with Wilderness Medicine's Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course! This scenario-based approach to recertification provides you the opportunity to test your skills against realistic situations. You'll practice and relearn wilderness medicine protocols, review evacuation and decision making guidelines, and receive the latest updates in wilderness medicine over the course of three days.

In person field days are September 14, 2024. Field day meeting place and time will be discussed in lecture.

In person lectures are September 13 and September 15, 2024 from 8-5pm.

Required Equipment

Wilderness Medicine Textbook: 

  • The textbook will be provided as a PDF and made available after registration in the "Course Materials" tab of the Registration Page. 

Packing List: 

    • Notebook and pen
    • Print a copy of the PowerPoints if you would like a visual aid to follow along during the field day lesson
    • Personal hand sanitizer
    • Watch (or cell phone with timer)
    • Day pack packed with the gear you primarily recreate with (This could be trail running, climbing gear, ski equipment, etc. We want you to practice improvising with the equipment you already own.)
    • Closed-toe shoes (i.e. hiking boots or trail runners)
    • Clothing that allows you to be comfortable in a variety of weather conditions
    • Water, snacks & lunch (or money to buy lunch)
    • Camp chair or pad
    • Sleeping pad (so you don't have to lay directly on grass for the scenarios)
    • Clipboard or hard surface to write on
