Staunton State Park - Climbing Area

Staunton is a great place for teaching rock climbing and provides lots of good options for both single and multi pitch terrain.

We spent two days there for the Advanced Multipitch class.

Day 1: Canyon Amphitheater
We used Captain Underpants (5.6) and set up a fixed line up to the base of the headwall. We were able to setup two stations halfway up which we used to have two groups practice their transition skills.

Day 2: Parkview Dome
We split into three groups and had groups climb Chase the Sky (5.7), Hey Ranger (5.5) and Head High (5.6). Pitches can be done using 35m ropes which minimizes having excess rope to drag up. We had one 30m rope on Chase the Sky and it was not long enough for p2. We rapped the route for each climb.
