Trip Report

Nordic Skiing – Tincup Pass

Lovely six mile x-ski with a fun group. We skied up the closed road going out of town towards Tin Cup pass and down again. There were of people out playing in the snow.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The road up to Alma was snow packed.  Our 4X4's and AWDs didn't have any issues.  We had to share the area, including the road we skied on, with several parties on snowmobiles.  All parties were friendly and accommodating.  The weather was perfect.  424601163_3066059023528437_5827632340024645038_n.jpg

This is an annual El Pueblo trip. Both skier's and snowshoers are welcome. Always a fun outing. The group stops at a favorite breakfast spot on the way up, and a brewery for a bite on the way down. The road we ski is steep in some places. We did cross one avalanche field. The level of danger had been checked prior to to trip. We practiced caution and crossed one at a time. It's a beautiful area and a great workout. I will confess to taking my ski's off and walking down the steepest part. Unfortunately the road receives some snowmobile traffic that packs the snow and makes snowplowing on the downhill grades difficult.
