Trip Report
Hiking – Lumpy Ridge Loop - RMNP
Wow, just when you think you completed the hike up to Gem Lake, there appears yet another ascent. Our group completed the Lumpy Ridge Loop, clockwise (some people call this the "hard way") and had a lot of fun, took in some great scenery, and stretched our hiking legs, just a bit. We were a determined bunch and made sure we supported each other on the tougher sections. A wonderful hike on a wonderful day with a wonderful group of people.

The trail was mostly dry with good footing the entire route, with only a few wet sections.
Our group hiked the Lumpy Ridge Loop in RMNP, clockwise starting from the Lumpy Ridge Trailhead. The weather was very cooperative the entire hike, with mostly sunny skies in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon, but no rain. It was a great group of people on this hike, trading stories and having fun most of hike, and getting a bit heads-down determined on the steep uphill sections. The clockwise route created a touch of delayed satisfaction and anticipation, being satisfied when we (finally) made it to Gem Lake, then some spectacular views of Longs and Meeker, and the pièce de résistance, Paul Bunyan’s Boot as we made our way down the Gem Lake trail. This hike provided a diversity of environments as we circuited Lumpy Ridge, forest, open meadows, steep ascents up rocky trails, to name a few. IF you are looking for a moderately strenuous hike with numerous scenic rewards along the way, give this one a try! Lastly, it was great to share this experience with a great group of people!
