Trip Report

Fly Fishing – Gibson Lake

I was joined by four CMC members for the trip.

  • Road recommended for high clearance only

I was joined by four CMC members for the trip. One of whom was from this year's fly fishing school. We started up the trail around 8:45. The weather was prefect for the hike to the lake. We arrived at the lake around 10:30. The winds had already picked up by that time. We prepared to fish and started sometime before 11:00.

Even with the wind, we were all able to catch brook trout. No one caught any greenbacks on this trip. Some of the guys caught around 20 fish. The weather stayed cloud free for the most part and we never had a threat of lightening. We departed the lake around 3:00 and made it back to the trailhead around 4:00.
