West Jefferson Trail
It is an easy way to get above tree line and see vistas of Georgia Pass, Mt Guyot and Glacier Peak.
For further information see: Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands - West Jefferson Trail (usda.gov)
We will leave from the West Jefferson Trailhead, travel up the West Jefferson Trail until it curves westward. At that point, we'll briefly go off-trail to the top of the ridge at about 11,800'. Then we'll join the Colorado Trail (Segment 6) and follow that down to a short trail that rejoins the West Jefferson Trail close to the parking area.
The Trailhead is within the Jefferson Lake Recreation Area. The fee to enter is $8 per car, however, Interagency Senior, Access, and Military passes are valid for 50% discount on entrance fee.
Be aware that the access road to the trailhead closes in the fall/winter.
