Vedauwoo Recreation Area
Located between Cheyenne and Laramie, Vedauwoo is an area of granite outcrops and pine forest best known for its climbing and rock scrambling, although some short but interesting hiking trails can also be found.
At a top altitude of approximately 8500 feet, the climbing season generally runs from mid-April through October. A small developed campground and dispersed camping are available within the Recreation Area boundary: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/mbr/recarea/?recid=82822.
Although the area is best know for its crack climbing, numerous routes of varying character exist, for example: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105744307/vedauwoo.
The area also provides good scrambling opportunities from easy to challenging on the granite outcrops and boulders around Turtle Rock, which can be reached less than 1/2 mile from the main trailhead and campground.
