Urad Lake State Wildlife Area

Urad Lake is in the Urad Lake State Wildlife Area, the newest SWA in Colorado.

Located off of Jones Pass and Berthoud Pass in Clear Creek County, Urad Lake is now considered a State Wildlife Area as a result of a cooperative effort between the Climax Molybdenum Company (Henderson Mine), the City of Golden and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).

  • Property is open to the public from June 1 through the end of the 4th regular big game rifle season.
  • Motor vehicle use is restricted to the designated parking lot only 
  • Camping in designated campgrounds only. Camping shall be limited to five days in any 45 day period, except during the big game seasons
  • Fires are prohibited, except in established fire rings
  • Discharge of firearms or bows is prohibited except when hunting 
  • Boating is prohibited, except for float tubes or craft propelled by hand, wind, or electric motor
  • Dogs must be kept on leash, except when used as an aid in hunting
