Tunnel Drive Trail-Canon City
Explore this out-and-back trail near Canon City, Colorado. Hike in the gorge above the Arkansas River, watching kayakers and rafters. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and horseback riding.
Beginning at the Tunnel Drive Trailhead, this is a 3.9 mile round trip with about 213 ft total elevation gain on well maintained dirt and gravel pathway with nice views of the river gorge. There are also views of the Royal Gorge train and train tracks along the way.
There are restrooms at the trailhead. Parking can sometimes be a challenge, so carpooling is recommended. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
