Rinker Peak

Trail head: Willis Gulch. Summit: 13,783 feet. Total Gain: 4,550 feet. RT Length: 11.50 miles. Views of Mt. Blaurock and Point 13,302' to the west.

15 miles south of Leadville, turn west onto CO 82 (Independence Pass road), drive approx. 8.5 miles to reach the signed Willis Gulch trailhead. Cross the foot bridge on the SW end of the parking lot to the south side of Lake Creek. Follow the trail for "Big and Little Willis" creeks. On reaching the junction for Little and Big Willis Creeks, stay right for "Big Willis" . Continue southwest along Willis Gulch to reach open terrain and some boulder fields, near 11,000' and some boulder fields. At 11,600', you can finally see Rinker's summit up to your right, follow the trail to 11,700' this grassy slope and gully provide easy access to the saddle (13,200ft ) between Rinker and Twin Peaks. Leave the trail and hike northwest up the slope and gully, higher up you may find a faint trail until it runs out near 12,400'. Follow the east ridge to the summit.
