Red Mountain Open Space
A 16,000-acre Larimer County open space with about 20 miles of multi-use trails. Open March through November, no entrance fee (as of 2023). Features colorful rock formations, rolling grasslands, and high plains wildlife including a bison herd.
This county open space is situated in Northern Colorado adjacent to the Wyoming border. There are many easy to moderate loop combinations available using the K-Lynn Cameron, Ruby Wash, Big Hole, Bent Rock, and Cheyenne Rim Trails.
Cheyenne Rim Trail:
This trail connects the area to the adjacent Soapstone Natural Area trail system (operated by the City of Fort Collins) and the Big Hole Open Space (operated by the City of Cheyenne, WY).
