Ptarmigan Hill

Ptarmigan Hill is a 12,143' point on the border between Eagle and Summit Counties. It can be accessed from various places in both counties, resulting in slightly different elevation gains and distances. Ptarmigan Hill is in an area with high avalanche risk so please check the avalanche report if there is snow on the ground.

Round trip from Vail Pass, connect to Wilder Gulch.  Follow the beautiful Wilder Gulch uphill to Resolution Road, then to Ptarmigan Pass and up to Ptarmigan Hill.  This route is 8.4 miles round trip and approximately 1800' elevation gain.

One way from Shrine Pass Road to Camp Hale via the Wearyman Creek Road and Resolution Road, 10.9 miles and 2628' elevation gain.
