North Star Loop

A virtually flat, 1.5 mile winter-only loop trail in the North Star Nature Preserve, between the riparian habitat of the Upper Roaring Fork River and Hwy. 82.

The Nature Preserve is closed in the winter but instead offers a groomed Nordic loop trail between the Hwy. 82 and the river, open only to cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing.  Snowshoers and skate skiers must use the far edge of the trail, staying away from the groomed ski track. Walkers and dogs are not permitted.

The Loop is open whenever there is enough snow to groom.  North Star Preserve is closed from dusk to dawn.  Look for the beaver and moose that frequent the preserve all year.
