Neota and Thunder Peaks

Hike off trail 5.2 miles with 2,050 ft of elevation gain to Neota and Thunder Peaks. Located northwest of Rocky Mountain National Park in the Neota Wilderness.

We will start at the end of Long Draw road and hike to the west off trail through a bunch of downed trees. We then cut uphill across a short scree field and make our way to the the ridge that leads to Neota Peak. From there we will descend a saddle then climb the ridge that leads to the summit of Thunder Mountain. From Thunder we will descend the ridge down close to Neota Creek then use the creek as a "handrail" keeping it downhill and north-east. Note once again this is off trail on steep terrain and involves a lot of downed trees. We will continue off trail until reaching the trail that parallels Neota Creek. The group will follow this trail until reaching Long Draw Road close to where we started.
