Nebraska Hill
A solid 5-mile, 2,800' approach leads from the beginning of Mammoth Gulch Rd., past Mammoth Lake Campground, to the top of Nebraska Hill in the James Peak Wilderness area. While the top is often wind-scoured, there are several options for skiing remote trees on its flanks.
Nebraska Hill is at the end of the long northeast ridge from St. James Peak. The northeast face below treeline features seldom explored, low-angle tree skiing. The southeast face can provide more open, yet still low-angle skiing when conditions allow. The northwest aspect has potential for steep, tight tree skiing into the South Boulder Creek basin.
