Mount Volz
Volz Benchmark or Volz Mountain is a 12,589 mountain near Como, Colorado, reached by off trail route finding. The trail head is unmarked on your way up the Boreas Pass road. It is a 4 mile round trip with 1,789 elevation gain.
This is a great route to see alpine wild flowers in the summer. There is a narrow marker indicating no vehicular travel beyond that point. The trail begins by following a stream for about .25 mile and then ends. After crossing the stream it is off trail the rest of the way. GPS or map reading required to find the best way up. The peak is best summited from the south east side to avoid tallus.
