Mount Audubon

Mount Audubon (13,217’). This 13’er in the Indian Peaks Wilderness is the nearest to the Brainard Lake Recreation Area and the easiest mountain to reach from there.

Due to its relatively gentle profile this mountain can be climbed and descended in several places. Good information on couloir approaches and ski mountaineering routes is available at https://www.frontrangeskimo.com/audubon

Indian Peaks Wilderness restricts usage, parking, and entry depending on season and trailhead location.  Go here for more information

Brainard Lake Recreation Area entry information here:  https://www.recreation.gov/timed-entry/10087515?tab=fees

Note: Overnight camping does not come with a parking space and getting a parking space for your camp permit is difficult.

The CMC Brainard Cabin [could not find a current link for the cabin on the website] is a good place to spend the night before and a good place for your alpine start.
