Little Book Cliffs Wilderness Study Area

This portion of the much larger Book Cliffs Recreation Area is located near Palisade CO and includes the Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Area.

The Little Book Cliffs Wilderness Study Area is characterized by gently-sloping plateaus, various small canyons, and four major canyon systems with many small side canyons: Main Canyon, Coal Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon and Spring Canyon.

Part of the southern edge of this WSA is dominated by the 2,000-foot-high face of the Book Cliffs. The area provides a good chance to see wild horses and desert bighorn sheep.

The two main trailheads start near each other near Palisades, CO.
