Lamba Chops

Visit a portion of the Canon City trail system that does not have many mountain bikes. Hike Lamba Chops to Hot Shops Loop. The trail is mostly easy rolling terrain with some moderate gain. Stereotypic Southern Colorado vegetation mixed with Ponderosa Pine Forest. 5.9 miles, 800’ elevation gain.

The trails off of Templeton Canyon Road (CR 3) in Canon City were originally designed for mountain bikers. Lamba Chops to Hot Shops Loop, which is in the lower lower portion of the Section 13 Loop of the trail system and the only hike north of Templeton Canyon Road, sees very little mountain bike activity. The trail starts off flat going behind a residential area and then starts to climb gently.  Most of the hike is easy rolling terrain with some moderate gain.  Recommend going counterclockwise on the loop. The hike goes through stereotypic Southern Colorado terrain in the lower portion and Ponderosa Pine Forest in the upper portion of the loop. Easy access and plenty of parking. The trailhead is across the road from the south starting Redemption Trail. 5.9 miles, 800’ gain, Easy A+
