Interlaken Trail
An easy out and back 4.5 miles snowshoe experience. 60' elevation gain. An easy snowshoe trip to explore the remains of the Turn-of-the-Century Interlaken Resort on the shores of East Twin Lake.
Depending on ski traffic, east on I-70 to Hwy. 91. South on Hwy. 91 which merges on to Hwy. 24 through Leadville. Drive through Leadville to Hwy. 82. West on Hwy. 82 3 miles to the parking area at the western end of the eastern lake.
Park near the Big Mac fishing area on Highway 82. Travel south toward the Twin lakes and cross the dam between Twin Lakes to intersect with the Colorado Trail. Explore the remains of the Interlaken Resort on the shores of East Twin Lake. Retrace your steps back to the Big Mac Fishing area.
If this route is not accessible, take another approach from the Twin Lakes trailhead and travel west to intersect with the Colorado Trail to the Interlake Resort.
