Horsetooth Mountain Open Space
Horsetooth Mountain Open Space is west of Horsetooth Reservoir in Fort Collins. The trails connect to Lory State Park. An entrance permit is required. Horsetooth Mountain Trailhead is open 24 hours. Horsetooth Falls is popular in the spring.
Horsetooth Rock (7,259'): 5 miles, 1,440 feet of elevation gain
Horsetooth Rock is the highest point in Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, west of Fort Collins. Approach is via a well-maintained trail. There are two summits, the easier and more popular north summit and a more difficult south summit. Reaching the summits involves some scrambling.
