Hermit Park Open Space

Hermit Park Open Space is located just east of Estes Park off US 36. It is managed by Larimer County on land formerly owned by Hewlett Packard and requires a daily or annual pass. The park is closed from late December to late March. At the top are great views of Twin Sisters, as well as Mt Meeker and Longs Peak.

Kruger Rock Trail: 3.4 miles, 900 feet of elevation gain

The Kruger Rock trail climbs gently through meadows filled with spring and summer flowers and pine trees before the final gentle scramble up to the rocky peak.  The reward is great views of Twin Sisters, as well as Mt Meeker and Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. The trail also connects to the Limber Pine Trail, Moose Meadow Trail, the Homestead Meadows Trailhead and eventually to Lions Gulch.  Homestead Meadows trail located in Roosevelt National Forest accesses several historical homesteads and is also popular for mountain biking.
