Start at Lily Lake, then take the Storm Pass trail and Estes Cone trail. The Storm Pass trail is a constant but gradual incline to the pass. The Estes Cone trail is shorter but steeper. There is some easy scrambling to reach the top.
Most people wishing to hike to the Estes Cone start at the Longs Peak trailhead which means that the Storm Pass trail should not be crowded
When you return to Lily Lake, you can take a walk around the lake. There are some picnic tables for an after-hike celebration with your favorite beverage and snack.
