This 28 mile loop with 5,600 vertical feet includes both the spectacular and unique upper Lost Creek Valley and the scenic high portion of the Brookside McCurdy Trail near the tops of McCurdy Mountain and Bison Peak, enjoy the unusual geology and South Park views of the Lost Creek Wilderness.

Colorado National Monument (the Monument) has been described as a "mini Grand Canyon". At 5800' Saddlehorn Campground is above the Grand Valley in a semi-arid pinon-juniper forest. Sandstone rock formations abound with scenic views of Book Cliffs. Balanced rocks, domes, canyons provide wonderous viewing.

Dinosaurs once lived in these canyons. The Visitor Center is actually built around canyon walls where dinosaur fossils are embedded. Petroglyphs and Pictographs, the messaging of Freemont Culture, can be found in at least 5 separate sites from half mile to 45 miles from Dinosaur National Monument.

A truly unique and varied hike through scenic open country, alpine basins, over a high pass and down to the fantastic Wheeler Geologic Area with return via a large scenic mesa above tree line and down into a deep canyon. This 24.9 mile long, with 4,200 vertical feet, difficult trip, accesses the geological area from the north by going over Halfmoon pass.

Enjoy the beautiful southern Wind River Range in Wyoming with this somewhat difficult five day backpacking trip that climbs over two panoramic passes, crosses the spectacular Lizard Head Plateau and visits the amazing Cirque of the Towers in one large loop.

Enjoy the beautiful Weminuche Wilderness in the southern San Juan mountains along the Continental Divide Trail. Much of the trip is along the divide and above tree line with camping below tree line. This strenuous 54 miles trip is for experienced backpackers, but is the best of Colorado, passing by Sawtooth Mountain, camping at the unique hanging Cherokee Lake and going over The Knife Edge with descents to many high meadows and passes full of flowers.

A 3.6 mile hike in from the RMNP Glacier Gorge TH brings you to a beautiful and private 1 campsite location from which to explore Andrews Creek Backcountry Area including Andrews Tarn, the Loch Vale Trail, and surrounding areas of interest. A wonderful way to spend a few days in the wilds of Rocky Mountain National Park.

2-Day: Nederland

Description: Try this 1.7 mile, out and back trail near Nederland, Colorado. Generally considered an easy route with other hiking trails nearby. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. It is a great early season gear shakedown. To the north, there are views of Longs Peak/Mt. Meeker.
