5-Day: Grand Canyon North Rim Campground

Grand Canyon North Rim Campground will be base camp for three days of hikes along the north rim and into the canyon. Hike difficulty can vary from easy to challenging.

Suggested Backpacking Section (BPX) itinerary for 3-day trip to be used for CMC trips led by BPX leaders for BPX members

Hike 1. Widforss Point. 10 miles roundtrip, generally level terrain but has small up and down sections.

Hike 2. Descend the North Kaibab Trail into the canyon. Depending on the group, we may hike to Roaring Springs (9.5 miles roundtrip, 3100 feet elevation change.)

Hike 3. Short hikes along the north rim. Options include trails near Point Imperial; the Cape Final Trail; and the Cliff Spring Trail.

Campground is open from May 15, through October 15, 2024, sites are by reservation only through www.recreation.gov. Each campsite allows up to 6 people and 2 vehicles.
