BPX 3-Day: Marvine and Twin Lakes from Marvine TH
This nice loop goes to a number of scenic lakes in the Flattops Wilderness. Experience the wide open beauty of the Flattops and possibly climb Big Marvine Peak for a grand view of the wilderness area. Fishing in the lakes is an option. Total loop is 22.4 miles and 3,700 vertical feet.
Suggested Backpacking Section (BPX) itinerary for 3-day trip to be used for CMC trips led by BPX leaders for BPX members:
Day 1: Starting at the Marvine TH, hike on the Marvine Trail (#1823) and establish a camp at the Marvine Lakes. (6.1 miles, 1,400 ft.)
Day 2: Continue hiking along the Marvine Trail (#1823) to the intersection with Oyster Lake Trail (#1825). Turn left and head NE to Twin Lakes. Camp in forested area south of the lake. (6.1 miles, +1,850 / -240 ft.)
Day 3: Descend on the East Marvine Trail (#1822) to the Marvine TH. (10.2 miles, +460 / -3,300 ft.).
Overall Route: 22.4 miles, +-3.676 ft.

- Alternate Route & Place: Add one day and do a four mile day hike to climb Big Marvine Peak (11,879 ft.)via the Big Marvine Peak Trail (#2258), or relax in camp.
