BPX 3-Day: Crater Lake from Maroon Bells Lake TH

This is a moderate, 3-day out and back trip in the Maroon Bells Wilderness. Camp at first lake on Aspen Four Pass Loop. Enjoy Maroon Bells and Crater Lake. Totals are are only 2.25miles and 1,220 ft elevation gain.

Suggested Backpacking Section (BPX) itinerary for 3-day trip to be used for CMC trips led by BPX leaders for BPX members: 

Day 1:  Drive to Aspen and perhaps camp at one of the five campgrounds on Maroon Creek.  

Day 2:  Start at beautiful Maroon Lake viewing the Maroon Bells.  Hike to Crater Lake.  2.25 miles and 1221 feet

Day 3:  Return to trailhead and drive home.

Driving Directions:  

Take I-70 W to CO-82 E in Glenwood Springs. Take exit 116 from I-70 W

Continue on CO-82 E to Maroon Creek Road
