3-Day: Colorado Trail - Segments 4 & 5 from the Rolling Creek TH
Colorado Trail - Segments 4 & 5 trip is a beautiful 30.3 mile hike (one way) with an elevation gain of about 5,398 ft. It starts at the Rolling Creek Trailhead near Bailey, CO, travels through the northern part of the Lost Creek Wilderness, has beautiful views of South Park, and ends at Kenosha Pass East Trailhead.
Suggested Backpacking Section (BPX) itinerary for 3-day trip to be used for CMC trips led by BPX leaders for BPX members
Day 1: Start at Rolling Creek Trailhead and follow Segment 4 of the Colorado Trail (#1776) to the first intersection with the Brookside-McCurdy Trail (#607) at the North Fork Trailhead (8.7 miles, 2,527 ft.) where we'll setup camp for the first night.
Day 2: Starting at the North Fork Trailhead / first intersection with the Brookside-McCurdy Trail follow Segment 4 of the Colorado Trail (#1776) to Long Gulch Trailhead where Segment 4 ends and Segment 5 starts. Follow Segment 5 of the Colorado trail for 5.2 miles a creek (12.7 miles, 1,488 ft.) where we'll setup camp for the second night.
Day 3: Starting at the second night's campsite follow Segment 5 of the Colorado Trail to Kenosha Pass East Trailhead (9.0 miles, 1,384 ft.) .
Alternate is either 2 day or 4 day.
