2-Day: French Pass from French Creek TH

Moderate trail along French Creek, on and off trail, out and back for as far as you like. Option to continue up to French Pass. Round trip to the pass (12,640ft) is 9 miles and 1,900ft elevation gain.

French Pass trail provides access to the Continental Divide between Bald Mountain and Mount Guyot.  The trail is not always easy to follow so you may be on and off trail.  The southern trailhead leads up the French Creek drainage, beginning at approximately 10,520 feet in elevation.  Hike for a couple of miles to find camping. Option to continue another couple of miles with a day pack to reach the summit of French Pass.  In the 1860s, this was the original wagon trail access from Denver to the Breckenridge Gold Diggings. It is named for two Frenchmen who hauled freight over it from Denver via South Park to the Breckenridge diggings.
