Eaglesmere Lakes, nestled in the Eagles Nest Wilderness of Colorado, are pristine alpine gems surrounded by towering peaks and lush forests. The lakes' crystal-clear waters reflect the dramatic scenery, offering a tranquil and picturesque setting. These lakes provide a peaceful retreat for backpackers and nature enthusiasts, with opportunities for fishing, wildlife watching, and simply soaking in the serene beauty of the Rocky Mountains.

This two-day backpacking trip to Eaglesmere Lakes begins with a moderate hike through lush pine forests and vibrant wildflower meadows. The trail gradually ascends, offering glimpses of the surrounding peaks and valleys. As we approach the lakes, the terrain opens to reveal crystal-clear waters reflecting the majestic alpine scenery. We’ll set up camp near one of the lakes, taking in the beauty of our home for the night. Our afternoon will be spent exploring the area, perhaps an off-trail hike to a neighboring lake, looking for the opportunity to spot local wildlife, including elk and marmots, perhaps taking a refreshing dip in the cool waters or simply relaxing with the panoramic views.

On day two we’ll bid farewell to our untamed paradise. As we make your descent back to the trailhead, the breathtaking vistas and the serene environment leave a lasting impression, making this brief but immersive journey a perfect escape into nature's splendor.
