Borah Peak
Borah Peak 12,662'. Idaho's tallest mountain. Located in the central section of the Lost River Range, within the Salmon-Challis National Forest.
Borah Peak (or Mount Borah) is Idaho's tallest mountain at 12,662' making it the 11th highest of the state highpoints. There is a primitive campground at the TH, first-come first served for $5/night.
The standard route, considered the easiest, is a strenuous climb with about 5,000' of vertical, with the crux being a class 3 scramble on an aréte named Chickenout Ridge.
The first half of the summer season snow remains on the upper reaches of the mountain so an ice axe and self arrest skills are necessary.
A detailed description of all climbing routes is provided at Summit Post and at a climbing letter about the peak published by the Lost River Ranger District.
