Bangs Canyon Recreation Area
A geologically interesting area and home to rare plants and animals. The trailhead is located close to Grand Junction.
Rough Canyon: 4.5 miles - 800 feet of elevation gain
The hike begins at the BLM's Bangs Canyon Staging area. From the parking lot, hike downhill through the tangled trail for about 2.2 miles to Rough Canyon Falls. In the canyon, look for the rare spineless hedgehog cactus and canyon tree frog. Return on the Tabeguache trail, hiking uphill back to the parking lot.
