Backcountry Nordic Skiing Brainard Lake

A loop around CMC Ski trail and Little Raven with an extension up to Left Hand Reservoir for the views and the extended downhill return.

We will depart from the Winter Lot @7:30 and take the CMC Ski trail to Little Raven to the intersection with Left Hand Reservoir Road.  We will go up the road to the reservoir for the views, then have an "exciting" ski back down to the lot.  

The loop is mainly rollers so skins not necessarily required, but I would recommend bringing them.  Some may find them of value on the downhill section if concerned about controlling speed.  This also leaves us the option of doing the loop clockwise and start on the Sourdough Trail to Little Raven.  In this case there is limited downhill on the Road when we return, which some may prefer, but portions of the initial climb is easiest in skins.
