Meet at the parking lot at C470 and Morrison Road (across from the gas station) at 06:30 am.

We've decided on a 06:30 am departure to ensure that we can secure parking spaces and to also finish before the expected monsoon rains in the late afternoon.

Phase 1 of the maintenance project involves typical trail work activities, with walking distance up to 500 linear feet from the trailhead and minimal elevation gain. The area has good views of nearby peaks.

Phase 1 involves repairs within the first 500 feet of the trail from the parking lot. We will repair two sets of steps descending into the valley below that were mostly installed by CMC-Denver some 15 years ago. Repairs involve replacing under-step fill and installation of several new wooden steps. We will also do additional rehab, installing protective netting and burlap wattles, for erosion control, on the old trail that parallels the stairs. As time allows, we will work on hardening a short stretch of trail between the bottom of the second set of stairs, and the boardwalk that goes over a marshy area. The USFS provides materials. CMC provides tools.
