We will meet at the northwest corner of the Fort Collins Northside King Soopers parking lot (1842 N. College Ave). We will meet between 8:00 AM and 8:20 AM, leaving at 8:30. From there we will carpool to the Greyrock Trailhead, meeting the forest service at 9:00 AM at the trailhead.
Donuts will be provided at King Soopers!
We've all seen the sign on the Greyrock trail proclaiming that the CMC maintains the trail in a partnership with the USFS, but that partnership has been threatened in recent years by difficulty gathering enough support for maintenance from members. We have done a lot this year to reinvigorate that relationship, with this being our third trail maintenance day in a year. This has made a huge impact on ensuring the trail is in good shape for the many visitors it sees every year.
Our goal for this trip is to continue up the trail clearing brush at the higher parts of the trail (previous trail maintenance days have cleared the lower sections of the trail). We will be focused on general brush cleaning, which is a relatively easy introduction to trail maintenance principles. We have tools for all sorts of body sizes, so you needn't be a lumberjack to participate.
Except to carry your pack, a 3lb tool, and your water for about five miles and up to about 1500 feet depending on how far down the trail we go. We will stop frequently along the trail to clear brush once we get a little higher up.
