Snow Climb – St Mary's Glacier

A day for practicing Self arrest and crampon technique before for spring snow climbing season starts in earnest.

  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 2.0

We'll meet Section DD of the Wooly Mammoth park n ride in at Morrison road & i70 (across from the Exxon gas station) at 7:00 to carpool up.  There is a $20 fee to park at the private lot at the trail head so we'll carpool to defray the cost among the car passengers.

This outing is for those who have prior ice axe and crampon experience.  If you have never used this gear before, the Intermediate snow climbing class will be the more appropriate setting for you.

For the rest of us this will be a day to practice self arrest from all positions that a fall could happen from.
