Specifics will be coordinated as we approach the trip date, but the plan will be to drive out from Denver Saturday AM, lunch in Carbondale or at Maroon-Snowmass trailhead and start the hike into Snowmass lake after lunch.
There is a per person permit fee of $10, please plan on reimbursing trip leader said permit fee.
This will be a mountaineering trip with crampons and Ice axes, please only inquire about participating on this trip if you have prior experience/training with said gear. If you have not used this gear on hard snow I encourage you to take the CMC's intermediate snow climbing course.
This time of year I anticipate that we will be camping on snow, at Snowmass lake- plan accordingly.
Required Equipment
Beyond standard overnight backpacking gear and 10 essentials, we will also be using crampons, ice axes, helmets and protective eyewear for the climb.
As we approach the climb we will coordinate group gear such as sharing tents as well as stoves for group cooking.
