Rock Climb – Missing Route/Place
A self-rescue practice session. We will set up some top ropes and practice the skills from our ARC Pro Intro to Self-Rescue class.

This practice session is for prior graduates of our ARC Pro Intro to Self-Rescue class, or who have already taken an equivalent class or have equivalent skills. We will be practicing the skills of the climber pick-off (which includes getting hands-free, ascending the rope, and a counterbalance rappel), escaping a belay, and passing a knot on rappel.
Meet at the far parking lot in RRCOS at 11 am. We can stay until dusk if desired.
Required Equipment
- Basic climbing kit- harness, helmet, shoes- including approach/hiking and climbing
- Belay device- whichever type(s) you own and use, basic tube-style or autolocking ok
- Personal tether- 120 cm sewn nylon sling or PAS or equivalent
- One additional double length (120 cm) sewn nylon sling/runner
- Non-locking carabiners- at least 4
- Locking carabiners- at least 6 total with at least 3 large HMS/Pear-shaped
- Rappel back-up loop- 10-14 inch tied loop of 5-6 mm nylon cord (made from a 4-ft. length of cord), or small Hollow-block loop
- Cordelette- 14-20 ft. of 7 mm nylon cord (untied length)
- Foot and waist prusik loops if owned (from BMS Rock)
- Quick draws- at least 2 (if owned)
