RMOTHG Trip – RMNP - Glacier Gorge TH - The Loch, Serendipity Pond

Starting at either the Glacier Gorge Trailhead or Bear Lake Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park, this Intermediate snowshoe hike follows a serene forested path to The Loch, a stunning alpine lake surrounded by towering peaks. For an extended adventure, we'll have the option of either making our way to Lake of Glass/Sky Pond or to Mills Lake, each offering equally breathtaking views and a peaceful winter landscape.

Carpool Place & Time: Meet at Lyons Visitor Center (Railroad Ave) 7:30AM for a 7:45AM depart (Lyons Visitor Center - Google Maps)

We'll carpool to the Glacier Gorge Trailhead parking in RMNP (limited parking) (Glacier Gorge Junction Trailhead - Google Maps)

Additional carpool meeting place could include location further north.

Embark on an enchanting snowshoe adventure from either Glacier Gorge or Bear Lake Trailhead, weaving through frosted forests and glistening snowfields to the breathtaking Loch Vale, where rugged peaks cradle the frozen alpine lake in a dazzling winter embrace. The pristine trail may invite us to venture further, ascending to the ethereal beauty of Lake of Glass and Sky Pond, their icy surfaces shimmering beneath sheer cliffs. Alternatively, on our return, we can consider a magical detour to the serene expanse of Mills Lake, a tranquil masterpiece framed by snow-laden pines and the towering spires of Longs Peak and the Keyboard of the Winds. We'll find a sunny spot for lunch/snack. Our pace will be comfortable for all group members. Overall ~6.5 miles and ~1150 ft elevation gain, with +2.5 miles/700ft elevation gain to Sky Pond, or +1.5miles/200ft elevation gain to Mills Lake) (The Loch - RMNP Snowshoe - CalTopo)
