RMOTHG Trip – Resthouse Trail from Echo Lake Campground
This trip is a training hike and gear check for the April 9-11 RMOTHG hut trip. Priority will be given to participants on the hut trip roster. Other RMOTHG members are welcome to signup on a space available basis. From Echo Lake Campground, adjacent to Echo Lake Lodge on Squaw Pass Road, we will take the Resthouse Meadows trail entering Mount Blue Sky Wilderness and continue on to the ridge. We will then descend to Vance Creek and up the next ridge, where we will enjoy a snack/lunch and return on same route. Note that the return route has a lengthy uphill climb to regain the ridge.

8:00am -- Meet at Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride to organize carpools and depart for the trailhead no later than 8:15am.
Pace is casual plus. We won't be setting any speed records, but we will plan to move at a steady pace with minimal breaks. We will take some time to savor the views and enjoy lunch on both of the ridges. Click here for a detailed route map.
Depending on trail conditions and the pace of the group, this hike may take up to six hours. Our goal will be to complete the hike and return to Wooly Mammoth by around 4-4:30pm at the latest. Do, however, plan for the possibility that this may be a longer outing.
Bring snowshoes, gaiters, poles, lunch, snacks, extra water, and appropriate layers for a variety of weather conditions.
Keep an eye out for a pre-trip email with additional details on Thursday 3/20.
