RMOTHG Trip – Cub Creek Trail

RMOTHG (only) 5 mile hike through a beautiful pine forest near Evergreen (Cub Creek East). 1200 ft elevation gain. Good workout with mostly a long, steady uphill. We will spike-hike 2.6 miles up to a nice lunch spot where the trail plateaus out. 4 hours round trip anticipated.

Morrison PnR (3485 S. Rooney Rd, Morrison, CO)

From the Morrison Rd (CO 8) exit of 470 (5A) go west towards Morrison. Take immediate right on South Rooney Rd. Dirt Parking Lot is directly on your right across from the gas station/convenience store.

Directions from Carpool Site to Trailhead (for those who want to drive themselves):  From Morrison drive West on 74 to Evergreen. From the 3-way light in Evergreen turn south on Highway 73. Go about a mile, take right on Brook Forest Road (78) - which becomes Black Mountain Dr.  Drive about 6 miles to trailhead on right.

Please let me know if you have any medical issues / conditions / devices / medications that could affect your participation on this hike (e.g. blood thinners, asthma/inhalers, allergies, heart conditions).

Personal Info Card: Please remember to bring your Personal Information Form (Yellow Card) to keep in your 1st Aid Kit or in an easily accessible pocket on your backpack. In the event of an emergency this information will be essential.

Carpool Driver Donation: Let's remember that we are reimbursing the drivers for the gas expense, wear & tear on their vehicles, and getting chauffered to our hike:) Please split $12 ( 36 miles X .32) among the passengers in your carpool. Also, please bring some sort of Trash Bag to either put muddy/snowy boots in or to place on the floor of the driver's vehicle to help keep their vehicle clean.

I would love to have a Co-Leader if anyone is interested!  Since I live up in Bailey I will need someone to do a Roll Call and faciliate the carpool in Morrison.

Possible Snowshoes - depending on conditions.

Recommended:  Poles with baskets, thermos with hot drink, balaclava to cover face & nose, chemical hand/foot/toe warmers.
