Trip
Intermediate Snowshoe – RMNP - Lake Ypsilon
This is a rescheduled trip from December 15 due to weather conditions. It will be an out and back trip starting from the Lawn Lake Trailhead, then after crossing over Roaring River, we'll follow the Ypsilon Lake trail up for and then down a short descent to Chipmunk Lake then Ypsilon Lake. We will likely be using micro spikes the first two to three miles, then snowshoes after that. Although it is all on trail, the last mile or so we may be breaking trail. The pace combined with the elevation gain may be challenging for some.

Please arrive on time to leave at 6:40. We will carpool from the Pringles parking lot to the Lawn Lake trailhead. Ride share is $10.
The first 2 miles may be doable with microspikes, depending on how packed down the snow is; then past 2+ miles snowshoes are usually required. Past winters when I've gone, I've usually had to break trail the last mile or so, and due to the side slant of some of the slopes through the trees, it can be a trudge but a fun one. But the trail is mostly through trees climbing up, leveling out, climbing up more, then leveling out before heading down toward Chipmunk Lake and Ypsilon Lake.
