Intermediate Snowshoe – Missing Route/Place
A loop hike from the Brainard Lake Winter Lot. This hike, likely requiring microspikes and/or snowshoes, will go counterclockwise, first to Brainard Lake and Long Lake, then up the Niwot Ridge trail to Niwot Ridge, then over Niwot Mountain back to the trailhead

The Trailhead is the Brainard Lake Winter Lot. Here’s a Google Maps link to it: https://goo.gl/maps/TkKtqTC2H2mkjYCE6 We should arrive at the Brainard Lake Winter Lot at around 7:45am.
If you live on the northside, an option for you is to meet us at the small parking lot at Plainview Rd and Coal Creek Canyon Road (Hwy 72) - https://goo.gl/maps/NCmY8ZKknTVarYCU6 - at 6:45am.
Parts of this trip are on the long Niwot Ridge, which is above timberline and thus susceptible to cold winter winds and windblown snow. It can also be quite windy around Brainard and Long Lakes. Therefore, it is imperative that participants be prepared for cold winter conditions. The rewards are amazing views of the Indian Peaks and Longs Peak and Mt Meeker in RMNP

Required Equipment
This is a winter trip in the high country, so be sure to bring your snowshoes and your microspikes. Also, be sure to bring layers and headgear for the temperature range and the wind, plenty of water to drink, water supply appropriate for below freezing temperatures, sunscreen, and the rest of the 10 essentials.
