Intermediate Snowshoe – Mount Flora

This trip is for glacier travel students only. We will hike Mt Flora only reducing the mileage to 6 miles and the elevation gain to approximately 1800ft. Starting from Berthoud pass we will head up towards Colorado Mines Peak and then follow the ridge over to Mt Flora at 13,129'. We will then retrace our steps back to the pass. In addition to the snowshoe hike the group will also practice crevasses rescue skills near Berthoud pass.

Meet at Wooly Mammoth Lots at 545am for carpool.  If you are not carpooling meet at Berthoud pass parking area by 7am.  

Estimated total time of 8hrs (4hrs crevasse rescue practice, 4hrs snowshoeing).

  • Beacon, Probe, Shovel
  • Snow shoes
  • Crampons
  • Ice axe
  • Helmet
  • Mountaineering boots
  • Warm clothing appropriate for weather
  • Glacier rack, harness, picket
  • Optional: goggles, Inreach, two way radios
  • Group Gear: (2) 60m ropes
