This scenic out-and-back snowshoe adventure begins with a steady ascent along the first mile of Jones Pass Road, climbing through a broad, snow-covered valley framed by rugged peaks. Upon reaching the valley floor, the route leaves the road and travels off-trail along the West Fork of Clear Creek, weaving through open meadows and clusters of evergreens while breaking fresh tracks in the untouched snow. As the route ascends toward the Continental Divide, the terrain becomes more exposed, offering sweeping views of surrounding ridgelines and prominent peaks like Vasquez Peak, Berthoud Pass Peak, and Butler Gulch’s rugged summits. The climb provides a rewarding challenge, with opportunities to pause and take in the solitude of the high country before retracing the path back down. Our pace will be consistent with completing this hike in a reasonable amount of time. Overall ~6.5 miles and ~1600 ft elevation gain. (Jones Pass - Snowshoe - CalTopo)
